Benefits: Whole Body Cryotherapy
-
Cryotherapy may help reduce inflammation in the body by constricting blood vessels and reducing blood flow to affected areas. This can be beneficial for athletes recovering from intense training sessions or individuals with chronic inflammatory conditions.
-
Cold therapy has been used for decades to alleviate pain. Cryotherapy may help reduce pain by numbing irritated nerves, reducing nerve conductivity, and releasing endorphins, which are natural pain-relieving hormones.
-
Athletes and fitness enthusiasts often use cryotherapy to accelerate muscle recovery after intense workouts or injuries. The cold temperatures can help reduce muscle soreness, inflammation, and swelling, allowing for faster healing
-
Some athletes claim that WBC helps improve their athletic performance by increasing energy levels, boosting endurance, and reducing fatigue. The cold exposure is thought to stimulate the release of adrenaline and other beneficial hormones.
-
Exposure to cold temperatures during cryotherapy may trigger the release of endorphins and other mood-boosting neurotransmitters. It is believed that this can help alleviate symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress, promoting a sense of well-being.
-
Cryotherapy can temporarily constrict blood vessels, which can result in a tightening effect on the skin and reducing the appearance of pores. Regular cryotherapy sessions may also promote collagen production, potentially leading to improved skin tone and texture.
-
Some proponents suggest that cryotherapy can increase metabolism and help with weight loss. The body's response to cold temperatures may lead to an increase in energy expenditure as it works to warm up, potentially burning more calories.
What is the process like?
Cryotherapy put simply is the exposure to subzero temperatures for a purpose. There really are 3 different stages of benefits that happen with full body cryotherapy
During the session extreme temperature stimulates skin sensors, activating a Central Nervous System response. During a 2-3 minute session, the shock of the cold causes the body to go into protection mode. Blood vessels in your skin’s surface and muscle tissue constrict, forcing blood away from your peripheral tissues and into your core. That’s where the body’s natural filtration system remove toxins and metabolic waste which decreases inflammation.
Right after the session, blood flows back into the peripheral tissues warming the skin and muscle tissue. The blood is now enriched with oxygen, nutrients and enzymes, stimulating cellular regeneration as well as the release of endorphins, (natural pain inhibitors and mood boosters). Be prepared to feel a burst of energy and mental clarity that is invigorating to say the least.
Over the next 48 hours the process of restoration occurs and the body returns to a better than former state or condition. Clients often report benefits that include reduced pain and inflammation, increased energy levels and shorter recovery times from injury or workouts, better sleep, less anxiety and better mobility.
